On 28 October 2020 the Resolution Foundation published a report entitled Jobs, Jobs, Jobs, which disclosed that young workers and workers of colour were disproportionately likely to have been adversely affected by the pandemic. The report discloses the results of a survey of more than 6,000 working-age adults, reporting that unemployment is increasing and that “Even among those still in work, many have lost pay and hours, and the impact has been worst in London and in more deprived areas of the country.” Among the report’s key findings were that BAME workers and those aged 8-24-year-olds were disproportionately represented among the 9% of furloughed workers who had lost their jobs (22% and 19% respectively), and that young workers were disproportionately represented among the 12% of workers who remained employed but were paid less in September than in February 2020.
